The annual Original Writing Competition has won national respect because of the reputation of its judges and the honors received by its winners. For more than fifty years, this competition has honored some of Utah’s finest writers, with public recognition, career assistance, and cash prizes.

Visual arts competitions and exhibitions have been a project of the state since 1899, providing juried exhibitions open to all Utah artists and a forum from which the Permanent Collection Committee can make acquisition recommendations.
Fellowships are available for individual artists practicing crafts, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, artist's bookmaking, and working in new genres, conceptual arts and video. Fellowship grants do not require matching funds.
