Genral Purpose

 Performs a variety of professional, managerial and technical duties related to the planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the utilization, upkeep and maintenance of Brigham City museum-gallery. Organizes exhibits, directs collection management, implements architectural preservation and historical research.  Assures proper acquisition, care, custody, cataloging and displaying of historical artifacts and local, regional and national touring exhibitions.   Works under the general guidance and direction of the City Administrator. 

Minimum Qualifications

1.  Education and Experience:

A.         Graduation from college with a bachelor’s, (masters preferred)  degree in fine arts, art, museology, historic preservation or other related field; AND

B.         Four (4) years of experience performing above or related duties; OR

C.         An equivalent combination of education and experience.

2.  Required Knowledge, Skills. and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques of developing and managing museum facilities; standards and practices associated with the preservation and care of historical artifacts;  museum operations;   established methods of classification; methods of recording, documenting, and cataloging;  basic accounting and record keeping procedures; of the operation of personal computers and various software applications including Past Perfect inventory program, word processing, etc.; methods and processes for preserving and restoring artifacts. Working knowledge of principles and practices of budgeting processes and general accounting. general management including fiscal and human resources; principles of supervision;  interpersonal communication skills; fiscal management;  public relations and multimedia processes.   Some knowledge of general facilities care and maintenance.

American West Heritage Foundation
Education Coordinator
Job Description

Primary purpose of position: Assist the Education Director in developing and implementing educational programs for the American West Heritage Center. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the School Group and Summer Camp Programs.

Job Responsibilities
• Assist in organizing and implementing the School Group Program
• Assist in organizing and implementing the Summer Camp Program
• Assist in carrying out adult education opportunities throughout the year
• Assist in carrying out school-age education opportunities throughout the year
• With the Education Director, recruit and evaluate applications and provide support and supervision for contract
employees working as summer camp leaders and school group interpreters.
• Assist as needed in all programming efforts at the AWHC.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Education:
1. B.A. in History and/or Education
2. Background in teaching with emphasis in teaching history and historical themes
3. Knowledge of standard classroom procedures and needs of teachers and students
4. Knowledge of Utah and Cache Valley history
5. Skills in working with learners of all ages, especially school age learners
6. Strong event planning and organizational skills
7. Professional writing, organization, planning and communication skills
8. Skills in public speaking and presentations
9. Ability to conduct accurate research
10. Word processing and database applications
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
12. Self motivated

Development Officer
Utah Museum of Fine Arts

This senior position supports the Utah Museum of Fine Arts’ development program. Under the direction of the Director of Development and External Relations, administers all development activities involved with the solicitation of sponsorships and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, English or a related field and/or a minimum of three years of proven experience in grant writing and fund raising, preferably for an arts or cultural organization. Candidates must demonstrate effective written and verbal communications skills as well as a high level of organization and initiative.

Special Exhibition Project Manager

The Project Manager will coordinate all museum activities relating to hosting the exhibition on view June 22 – September 21, 2008. This exhibition will be the first “blockbuster” exhibition for the Museum and will require research, collaboration and development among staff and university personnelThe target audience will include the community, state and region due to the rare opportunity to view works included in the exhibition.
Requirements and Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Three to five years of equivalent project management experience.
Experience with coordinating traveling exhibitions is preferred.
Ability to provide direction, leadership and/or management to diverse groups involved with the exhibition. (employees, administration, boards, donors and volunteers)

Art-in-a-Box Program Coordinator

This position is responsible for implementing the Art in a Box outreach program for elementary classrooms throughout the state. Responsibilities include implementing current outreach program, recruiting teachers to participate, coordinating classes in selected counties, scheduling and facilitating teacher workshops, teaching classes statewide, and maintaining a database of all participants. This is a 100% FTE position that reports to the Education Curator. Extensive travel with occasional overnight commitments is required.

An associate or bachelor's degree in art, art history, education, or related field. Excellent organization and communication skills and customer service required. Own transportation required. Knowledge of Filemaker Pro is critical for maintaining outreach program database. Teaching experience preferred.

Youth Education Specialist
Red Butte garden & Arboretum
20-30 hours per week (some weekends), $6.95 to $11.13/per hour

Leading birthday parties, assisting the Youth and Family Programs manager, and helping with summer camps, youth classes, and festivals.

High School graduate; able to work weekends; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills; as well as the ability to work independently. Successful candidates will have previous experience working with children and feel comfortable working in an outdoor setting.

Curator Position Available

The Kimball Art Center in Park City has a position open for a full-time curator.  The job is a full time position with full benefits. The salary range is between $30,000-$42,000, depending on experience. Responsibilities: 1.  Select, with Director’s assistance and final approval, all exhibitions in the three galleries; 2.  Prepare all text associated with exhibition; 3.  Install all exhibitions with assistance when needed; 4.  Work with Education Director on all education packages.
