Performing Arts

Our performing arts services provide support to performing artists throughout the state and to presenting organizations (presenters) in their efforts to build community through the performing arts. Our goals is to enhance the professional development of both the artists and the presenters to better enable high artistic quality in all the performing arts and to increase community accessibility to these art forms.

Funding

OnStage in Utah

We recognizes the important role of presenters in linking performing artists with Utah audiences.  The OnStage in Utah grant is available to Utah presenters to support public performances and outreach of in-state or out-of-state performing artists.

Tour West, WESTAF

WESTAF, with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, provides TourWest grants for the presentation of out-of-state performing artists and performing arts groups. Grants of up to $2,500 awarded through this program are designated by the NEA for "underserved communities." The term "underserved communities" covers a wide variety of situations. Generally, the term is meant to describe communities for whom access to the arts is limited by geographic isolation, economic constraints, physical limitations and historic patterns of exclusion.

Performing Artist Profiles

Performing artists are an integral part of arts activities throughout the state.  Through theatre, music, acting, storytelling and other live performances of Utah performing artists, they enhance the community, tell a story, and open new vistas of understanding and appreciation. Visit NowPlayingUtah.com to view performing artists throughout Utah.

Utah Presenters

This is a network of organizations that bring performing arts events to their communities. Presenters connect with each other to foster collaboration, arrange block booking, provide professional development training, mentor and share best practices, and raise public awareness of the value of arts in communities. A list of Utah Presenters is available on NowPlayingUtah.com

Presenters can also join the Utah Presenters networking site at Ning. This is a membership-only site. Contact Jason Bowcutt for to request an invitation to join.

Booking Conferences

A gathering of arts presenters, artists, agents and management companies presenting tremendous opportunities for performers and presenters (theaters, festivals, colleges, universities, cultural season organizers, non-profit arts groups, event planners and more) to meet and work with their counterparts and colleagues.  They focus on block booking sessions, professional development, workshops and exhibits, as well as developing a sense of community.

Workshops and Seminars

Workshops and seminars are created to connect presenters and performing artists in an atmosphere designed to promote networking.  These seminars provide creative and professional development assistance and means of professional sustainability.
